Our first ever France gig!
Let us begin by mentioning that Toulouse in the springtime is one of the most beautiful places we have ever laid eyes on. It's always a delight to play for happy couples on their special day, but performing in the south of France has to be one of the most memorable experiences we have had the opportunity to be a part of.
We touched down at the airport in Toulouse early in the morning, on May 28th, and made our way to Chateau de Puissentut shortly afterwards. It was a lovely scenic drive through the hills and fields, and when we arrived, the medieval chateau left us breathless. We met with Karim and Sian and they immediately offered us cold beers and showed us to where we were meant to be playing that evening. We set up our equipment by the pool, while the staff worked diligently to set up the dance floor for the night. On our return later in the day, as the sun was setting, we were treated to some of the most delicious food we have ever had at a gig. It was a Mediterranean buffet of every food imaginable, but served with a French intricacy. We then proceeded to begin the festivities for the big night.
Our equipment was right where we left it and we kicked off the night by performing the clients chosen first dance live and continued to play for the large sized crowd that had amassed. People danced all night long, or so it seemed, and much fun was had by everyone. One of the more notable reasons to pick the Chateau for one’s wedding (besides the gorgeous scenery) has to be that there are no nearby neighbours and no limit on sound, so the festivities can continue for as long as possible. Big shout out to the venue manager and organiser for doing such an amazing job and providing everything that we needed, from beers to extension leads and power sockets.
We would highly recommend 'Chateau de Puissentut' for weddings, getaway trips, or any event. This first France wedding was followed later by a wedding gig in the French alps, which we will write about very soon.
